Currently we hold classes three times a week, on Tuesdays Thursday and Friday evenings. There are separate
classes for children and teenagers. Please see the timetable for specific times. A detailed description of each
class follows.
Junior Children's Programme (ages 5-12): In this class the focus is on instilling discipline, focus and
concentration whilst teaching martial arts techniques. We also teach children awareness techniques to
complement their physical skills. Children are taught that these skills are for self defence and should never be
used to hurt or bully other people. The children are separated into smaller groups and taught by a qualified
Instructor or Assistant Instructor to maximise the effectiveness of each lesson.
Senior Children's Programme (Ages 8-13): These classes are for children who have reached the rank of gold
belt. Training is slightly faster paced, with more emphasis on martial arts technique. Children in this programme
learn to cooperate with one another during partner drills, and they learn the basic use of equipment such as
kick shields, focus mitts, blockers and punchbags.
Teen/Adult Programme (ages 13+): In these sessions we train teenagers and adults not only how to defend
themselves from potential dangers, but also how to spot and avoid them. We also teach conflict resolution skills
so that the martial arts techniques we teach are the last resort. During self defence lessons the legality and
morality, as well as the psychological and biological effects of self defence situations are discussed so that the
student has a greater awareness of both their capabilities and their responsibilities.
